First step when buying land is you need to be very clear and have thought through what you want to do with the land now and in the future. Do you just want space between your neighbors and a big “yard”? Do you want to have specific types of farm animals like horses, chickens, goats, cows, sheep or pigs? Do you want a house already on the property? If you plan to build, what type of home did you want to be able to build, manufactured or mobile home, slab built, barndominium, tiny home, storage container home? Will you need to park recreational or work vehicles on the property like RV’s, boats, trailers, dump trucks, etc? Do you want to hunt or shoot firearms? The answers to these questions will help you narrow down what’s available and where based on the restrictions that have been put in place. Knowing the restrictions (if any) that are tied to a piece of property up front will help narrow your choices and focus your attention quickly on the current inventory to choose from.
